Clarity Records is an independent music store in the Adelaide CBD that opened on on Saturday April 17th, 2010. Due to the the closure of many of the music stores around town, a huge hole was left in the Adelaide independent music industry, leaving little to no options for local bands to sell their music, buyers to buy local artists and places to buy rare releases. Due to these events, Clarity Records was created.
Clarity Records is located on 60 PULTENEY ST, ADELAIDE 5000 and specialises in importing music from all around the world. Clarity Records specialises in Vinyl and the store caters to many styles of music, like Punk/Hardcore, Metal, Indie, Hip Hop, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Funk and much more. Clarity Records aims to support all local music by stocking a large range of music from Adelaide and Australia.
Clarity Records stocks music related products from CDs, Vinyl, Merchandise, Books, Zines, DVDs, New & Secondhand.
Clarity Records is also a record label and all physical releases are distributed by MGM Distribution or you can find them on digital streaming services.
Clarity Records is owned and operated by Footy (Matt) and Laura Horvath. Both Laura & Footy have been hands on in the local music community since an early age. Laura & Footy's experience spans from running a record label, releasing music, booking shows & tours, managing & promoting bands and regularly attending local, national and international shows on a weekly basis. Footy plays in Stolen Youth, a band that formed in 2000, and various other bands over time. Footy also spent close to 5 years working for one of Adelaide’s most well know independent music stores, Big Star Records, until the day of its closure in 2010.
Clarity Records is responsible for organising the award winning annual music festival A Day Of Clarity. A Day Of Clarity is a free music festival that was first held in 2015 and every year since.
In 2021 Clarity Records underwent major renovations to double the size of the shop after also taking on the space next door. More space and, more importantly, more vinyl!
