Forming from sisterhoods and best friendships in 2018, the Adelaide quartet quickly began drawing attention playing local festivals, to then share stages with the likes of Middle Kids, Gang of Youths and Spacey Jane. Only a year after forming, Oscar The Wild were already performing at festivals such as Our Place, Swirl Fest and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. Having a clear proclivity for live shows, the band was nominated for the best live act in South Australia that same year.
Despite limited live performances in 2020 and 2021, Oscar The Wild's momentum remained unyielding, securing support from triple j’s Home & Hosed, triple j Unearthed and Spotify playlists including 'Fresh Finds AU & NZ' and 'Local Noise'. Following the pandemic, they continued to surge ahead, chosen to play at the 2022 VALO Adelaide 500, supporting US giants, The Killers.
Oscar The Wild’s commitment to being part of communities and even forming some themselves through music is not only deep and genuine; but necessary. Their music has laid the foundation for something truly special to build in the not-too-distant future, like a powder keg linked to dynamite. For Oscar The Wild though, accolades are secondary. The journey to feel something is primary.
